The Courtyard In Between Relax in the surroundings of 'the in-between'. This area resides between the buildings comprising the restaurant & the gallery. Upon entry your greeted by a courtyard furnished with tables for small gatherings to a large group gathering table. If you choose to reside outside on your visit our Mexican terracotta pot belly fires will warm your cockles on the most wintery of evenings. In the summer a hearty breeze wafts through the courtyard from end to end as the buildings lend themselves to an air current flow between them. The unique immediate surrounds intrigue even the most dispassionate observer. The courtyard is fronted at the street by a glass wall containing a sliding door entrance. You may wonder wether your inside our out as the glass in contrast with the open sky gives the mind a contradictory impression of the state of residence. The buildings are clad with eye catching displays of Gunther's artistic outflow. In addition the 'gumtreeman' & the driftwood boat draw one for a closer inspection. Feel free to enjoy a stroll through the grounds past the native garden leading to the rear of the property bounded at this juncture by the Molongo River. At this point the Molongo is little more than a reasonable stream yet it is the primary source of Lake Burley Griffen that the city of Canberra surrounds. We've even built a little bridge across the Molongo so you may enjoy our little surprises across the way. If it's after dark don't be put off by any strange noises. Our resident kangaroos are likely to jump and thump around a bit once you make yourself known. |
